His obituary reported “Aqua Johnson, 68, Bath county farmer of Zilpo, died on Sunday afternoon while attending services at the camp grounds at Camargo when he was stricken with a heart attack.

A native and lifelong resident of Bath county, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lelia Johnson; two daughters, Mrs. W. E. Poynter and Miss Faye Johnson, both of Dayton, Ohio; two sons, Ova Johnson, Dayton, Ohio, and Audrey Johnson, Zilpo, and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at the Horseman-Powell funeral home, Morehead, with Rev. Mr. Tate officiating. Burial was in the family cemetery in Bath county.”

Jones, born in Ky, mother’s maiden name Ida Maxwell, birthplace don’t know, “judging from reliable neighbors cause of death was pulmonary tuberculosis onset about 8 years ago”, informant O. M. Roberts, Zilpo, Ky, burial in Alfrey Cemetery, Salt Lick, Ky.

Johnson, Henry, 54, farmer; Mollie C., wife, 53, first marriage for both, married 33 years, mother of 2 children, 2 living; Aqua, son, 28, second marriage; Cordelia, dau-in-law, 20, first marriage, married 0 years, mother of 0 children. All born Ky Ky Ky.

1920 census of Bath Co., Ky, Licking Union precinct, enumerated 30 March, lists on pp. 9A-9B as family #47:
Johnson, Acrer, 38, farmer, married; Cogswell, Genera, sister, 72, widowed; Cordie, wife, 30, b. Missouri Ky Ky; Ovel, dau, 8; Edie, dau, 5; Odie, dau, 2 2/12. All daughters born Ky Ky Missouri.

Genera Cogswell is not really Aqua’s sister. Her parents were John Jackson Alley and Elizabeth Cassity. So far as I know, she is no relationship at all to Aqua Johnson, but her brother James Elza Alley and sister Delilah (Alley) Ramey are listed two household before this one. Her name is on the last line of the page, which is sometimes used for “overflow” from other households; I suspect she was intended to be in the J. E. Alley household. Cordie and the girls are at the top of the next page, and should have the surname repeated if there was someone with another surname between husband and wife, but it is not.

1930 census of Bath Co., Ky, White Sulphur precinct, enumerated 24 April, lists on p. 7B as family #138:
Johnson, Aqua, 48, b. Ky Ky Ky, age at first marriage 27, farmer; Cordelia, wife, 41, age at first marriage 20, b. Mo Mo Mo; Ova, son, 18; Etta, dau, 16; Ottie, dau, 12; Audrey, son, 8. All children born Ky Ky Mo. Mary C., mother, 70, b. Ky Ky Ky, widowed, age at first marriage 20.
