The Kentucky birth index lists Raymond J. Johnson, born 16 Jan 1941 in Breathitt Co. (a misindexing of Rowan Co.11), mother’s maiden name Hattie Adkins.

His obituary reported “Raymond Junior Johnson, 69, of Ypsilanti, Michigan formerly of Rowan County, passed away at 12:10 A.M. Saturday morning, September 4, 2010 at his home in Ypsilanti.

    He was born in Rowan County, Kentucky on January 16, 1941, a son of the late Homer and Hattie Adkins Johnson.

    Mr. Johnson was retired from General Motors in Ypsilanti after 30 years of service.

    He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Ypsilanti, Michigan where he taught Sunday School and was very active in church work.

    He enjoyed spending time with his son, grandsons and friends. He also enjoyed raising a vegetable garden and was a veteran of the United States Army.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald Eugene Johnson and an infant brother.

    Survivors include his wife, Della Kidd Johnson, whom he married on October 9, 1965, one son, James Johnson and his wife, Jennifer of Ypsilanti, Michigan, one brother, Jerry Lewis of Morehead, two sisters, Judy Buelterman and her husband, Bill and Kathy Trent and husband, Cecil both of Morehead, two grandsons, Joshua Johnson and Jacob Johnson, four nephews, four nieces and several other relatives and friends.

    Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 8, 2010 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Oscar Riley and Rev. Herbert D. Lewis officiating.

    Burial with full military rites conducted by the Morehead American Legion Post No. 126 was in the Crix Cemetery.”
