The 1910 census of the James H. Kegley family, taken in April, listed a daughter Delmas, age 1 year 11 months. The 1920 census, taken in January, listed a son Delmar, age 11.
His death certificate records Delmas Kegley, male, single, age 40, born 1908 in Elliott Co, Ky, died 14 Nov 1948 at Eastern State Hospital, Lexington, Fayette Co., Ky, father’s name unknown, mother’s name Lidie Kegley, born in Newfoundland, Ky, cause of death cerebral hemorrhage, informant hospital records.
Liddie is James and Mary Ellen’s oldest daughter. So Delmas should have been listed in the censuses as a grandson rather than a son, but apparently he was raised by his grandparents. So I’m linking him in as a foster son.
