Census Notes for Ulysses Waller Burrus
In the 1850 census he was recorded in Mercer Co., Ky, as Waller Burrus, age 5, son of the widowed Mary Burrus, age 35.

In the 1860 census he was recorded in Lewis Co., Missouri as U. W. Burrus, age 15, b. Ky, with the family of J. A. Hawkins. (Also in the household is a J. E. Burrus age 19 b. Ky who matches the brother James age 9 in the 1850 census.)
Notes for Mary “Mollie” Dosia Colyer
I can find no single Mary or Mollie Colyer born in Iowa of approximately the right age in the 1875 state Iowa census or the 1870 or 1880 federal censuses, suggesting that the marriage to U. W. Burrus may not have been her first marriage.

Nor can I find a death certificate for her.
