Her death certificate records Malissa Swimm, age 74 years 5 months 15 days, born 6 Jan 1868 in Kentucky, died 21 June 1942 in Salt Lick, Bath Co., Ky, widow of John Swimm, father Henry Hughes, mother’s maiden name Martha Price, both born in Ky, cause of death chronic myocarditis and interstitial nephritis, informant Mrs. Robt Williams, Salt Lick, Ky, burial in Siloam Cemetery.

Her gravestone spells her name as Melissa Swim, and has the dates Sep 15, 1869 - July 21, 1942, but it is clearly the same person since it is next to John’s.

The 1900 census gave her birthdate as April 1869.
