Her obituary in the Ashland Daily Independent reported:

“Hazel Grace Conley Johnson, 94, of Morehead, Ky., and Elliott County, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Nov. 8, 2006, at her residence following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook, Ky., by Tim Rhodes, Paul Preston and Marvin Beculhimer. Burial will be in Elliott County Memory Gardens.

She was born Nov. 4, 1912, in Barnrock, Ky., Johnson County, Ky., a daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Dora Meade Conley.

She was a member of Point Pleasant Baptist Church in Flatgap for years and had been a member of Elliottville Baptist Church since 1994.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ova C. Johnson, in 2001 and a stepdaughter, Yvonne Fultz, in 1998. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Ray, Herschel, Harold, Conrad and Byron Conley; and five sisters, Lexie Dixon, Fern Lyon, Merle Fairchild, Florence Meade and Anna J. Beculhimer.

Surviving are two daughters, Joyce Sue Greene and husband Ernest of Ashland, Ky., and Janet L. Johnson of Morehead; three granddaughters, Angela L. Greene of Wilder, Ky., Stacy Baker and husband Scott of Winchester, Ky., and Rachel Williams and husband Robert of Fort Mitchell, Ky.; and a stepgrandson, Mike Fultz and wife Michelle of Morehead.

Additional survivors include five great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Conley Baker, Savannah Baker, Madison Williams, Mason Williams , Megan Williams, Mickey Fultz and Michaela Fultz; a sister, Ruth McKenzie of Flatgap; many nieces, nephews and friends; and special caregivers Peggy Layne, Pat Porter and Sue Cox.

Hazel was a graduate of Morehead State Teachers College and a retired teacher who taught 50 years, mostly in Elliott County schools. She was a member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association, a former member of the Elliott County Library Board, a former secretary of Elliott County Retired Teachers and an election officer for 20 years.”
