Notes for Isaac Mabry
The spelling of Isaac’s surname and that of his children and grandchildren varies widely in the records, including Mabry, Maybry, Mabrey, Maberry, Mabery, Mayberry, and even Maybury. Most descendents after about 1920 settled on either Mabry or Maberry, split about evenly, and you will tend to find each camp assigning their own spelling to the ancestors. But I think the truth is that the early generations didn’t care how their name was spelled, making no spelling any more right than any other.
Notes for Jane [McGrady]
Since Jane’s daughter Annice was named McGrady, it may be the name of a first husband rather than her maiden name.
