The Ohio deaths database lists Sarah E. Fannin, age 100, born in Kentucky, died 15 Nov 1982 at long-term care facilities, Portsmouth, Scioto Co., Ohio, widowed.

Rowan Co., Ky marriage license book 2, p. 353, records a license issued on 16 Sep 1897 for David Conley, age 18, residence Wyatt, Elliott Co., born in Elliott Co., to Sarah Jane Fannin, age 14, residence Wyatt, Elliott Co., born in and both parents born in Rowan Co., bond surety by James Fannin. There is no return filed with the license. Marriage register A, p. 113, however, records the marriage of David Conley and Sarah Fannin on 15 Dec 1897.

Although Sarah’s middle name is recorded as Jane on the marriage license, her middle initial in the 1900 and 1910 censuses is given as E, and in the death certificates of both David and of their daughter Victoria her name is reported as Sarah Ellen Fannin. (She will not appear in any census with her parents since she was born after 1880 and married before 1900.)
