The SSDI lists Richard Gee, born 27 Jan 1878, died Oct 1846, SSN issued in Kentucky before 1951.
There are two death certificates filed for him, both delayed.
The first, #23302 filed on 19 Nov 1946, records R. D. Gee, age 68, born 27 Jan 1878 in Ky, died 17 Oct 1946 n Enterprise, Carter Co., Ky, married, husband of Bessie Gee age 39, retired, father Champ Gee, mother’s name Amanda Littleton, cause of death organic heart disease, informant John Gee, Soldier, Ky, burial in Gee Cemetery.
The second, #2786 filed on 25 Feb 1947, records Richard Davis Gee, age 66, born 17 Jan 1880 in Ky, died 17 Oct 1946 in Soldier, Carter Co., Ky, married, husband of Bessie Gee, occupation blacksmith, employer N. American Ref Co., father Champ Gee, mother’s maiden name Amanda Littleton, both born in Ky, cause of death angina pectoris, informant Rudy Gee, Soldier, Ky, burial in Gee Cemetery.
Since he was listed as age 1 in the 1880 census, taken in June, and his brother Charles was born in 1877, it is likely that his birthdate was really 27 January 1879.

Notes for Martha A. Roe
The 1880 census lists a daughter Martha A. born Dec 1879, age 6 months, but the 1900 census lists a daughter Lizzie born Dec 1879 and a daughter Martha A. born Jan 1883. So apparently James and Mary decided to change the name of the daughter born in 1879 while she was still an infant, and then reused the name Martha for the next child.
Her death certificate records Martha Gee, age 48 years 7 months 6 days, born 17 Dec 1881 in Carter Co., died 23 July 1929 in Jacobs precinct, Carter Co., Ky, married, wife of R. D. Gee, father James Roe, mother’s maiden name Mary Francis, both born in Ky, cause of death cholera morbus, informant and burial place blank.
I do not know which of the three different recorded birthdates is correct (it may be none of them - the 1910 and 1920 censuses are most consistent with a birthdate in late 1880), but I am entering the one from the death certificate (which is also on her gravestone) because it is likely to be the date most widely used by her relatives.
