Census Notes for Matthew & Rebecca (Family)
1850 census of Bath Co., Ky, district 1, enumerated 25 Sept, lists on p. 118 as family #865:
Matthew Pervis, 40, b. Ky; Rebecca, 40, b. Va; Mary A., 18; Susan, 15; Jonathan, 13; Mary J., 11; Louisa, 8; James, 6; Milly, 4; Amanda M., 6/12. Joseph Cook, 20. All born in Kentucky.

The next household is Ellen Cook, age 20, living alone. She is presumably Joseph’s wife, nee Purvis, so probably the #866 was placed on the wrong line and should have been attached to Joseph.

1860 census of Fleming Co., Ky, district 2, Flemingsburg P.O., enumerated 24 July, lists on p. 51 as family #351/415:
Mathew Pervis, 49, laborer; Rebecca J., 49; James, 16; Malinda, 15; Amanda M., 10; Joseph, 8. All born in Kentucky.

1870 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Cross Roads precinct, enumerated 27 June, lists on p. 2 as family #9:
Purvis, Matthew, 62, farmer; Rebecca, 61, wife; Mary, 32; Milly, 23; Amanda, 21; Joseph, 19; Aaron, 5. All born in Kentucky.

Aaron is a grandson, but I do not know who his parents were. (Possibly born out of wedlock to one of the daughters.)

1880 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Cross Roads precinct, enumerated 1 June, lists on p. 6 as family #53/60:
Purvis, Matthew, 69; farmer; Rebecca, 69, wife; Mary A., 41, dau; Milla, 33, dau; Vina, 30, dau; Aaron L, 18, grandson; George L., 8, grandson; James S., 4, grandson. All born Ky Ky Ky.
