Her obituary reported “Gerry Lewright, the daughter of Ernest and Hazel (Feaker) Latch, was born June 13, 1923 at Hampton, Iowa. She attended Iowa Falls schools thru her junior year and transferred to Eagle Grove High School where she graduated in 1941.

Gerry was united in marriage to Virgil Gray on Feb. 20, 1943 at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. He died Dec. 13, 1943 in action serving in World War II. She married Harold Lewright on Sept. 12, 1948 at Eagle Grove.

Gerry worked as a telephone operator during and after World War II. After her marriage to Harold, they owned and operated Lewright Lockers in Eagle Grove for many years. She was an active member of Holmes Baptist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and a former member of Iowa Laureate Alpha Alpha.

Mrs. Lewright passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at her home in Eagle Grove at the age of 83 years. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Lewright of Eagle Grove; three children, Barbara Bubeck and husband Paul of Eagle Grove, John Lewright and wife Kima of Eagle Rock, Mo. and Nancy Barge and husband Roger of Eureka Springs, Ark.; six grandchildren, Ethan and Joshua Bubeck and Derrick, Kelli, Charlie and Josh Lewright; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Comstock of Eagle Grove and Helen Fuller of West Des Moines and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 27, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Holmes Baptist Church in Holmes with Pastor Pat Odle officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove.”
