Murray, father Samuel Lewis, born in New York, mother’s maiden name Kezzie Williams, born in Ky, cause of death euremia and chronic Bright’s Disease, informant Mary Overholtz, Pisotum, Ill, burial in Pisotum Cem.

Her obituary reported “Died today at the house of her daughter Mrs. George Overholtz, here in Pisotum City. She was born Sarah Elizabeth Lewis, near Greencastle, Indiana, to Samuel and Kizzie (Williams) Lewis on Jan 23, 1954.

At the age of 20 she met and married William F. Williams and was married in Douglas Co., Illinois on the 18 of Sep 1874.

From this marriage two children were born, Catherine Elizabeth Williams now Mrs. William E. Fair of St. Louis, Mo, and Effie Jane Williams now Mrs. John D. Riddle of Champing, Ill.

Then in Aug of 1878 Mr. Williams died in Douglas Co., Ill.

In 1886 Sara married Barnard H. Murray in Champaign Co. Ill and to this union came four children, Samuel Murray, Ernst Murray, Charles Murray, and Mary Murray now Mrs. George Overholtz of this city.

Miss Sarah, as she was known as, was not wedow from her late husband B. H. Murray but she was a three star mother as three of her sons died in World War II.

Miss Sarah is survived by 3 children, four brothers namely Oliver Lewis of Cloverdale, Ind, Andrew Lewis of Greencastle, Ind, Thomas Lewis and Henry Lewis both of Kansas City, Mo, and two sisters, Mrs. Anderson Carpenter of Glosport Mo, and Mrs. Belle Delaney of Excelsior Spring, Mo., and 10 grandchildren of St. Louis, 2 of Champaign, and 2 of Pisotum City.

Miss Sarah will be sadly missed by all, she will be laid to rest at the Pisotum Cemetery .... May she rest in peace.”
