Notes for Alexander Jackson “Jack” Masters
His WW I draft registration card, filed 12 Sep 1918, records Alexander Jackson Masters, age 41, residence Triplet, Rowan Co., Ky, born 28 July 1877, farmer, self-employed, nearest relative Pearlie Masters (wife), Triplet, Rowan Co., Ky.

His death certificate records Andrew Jackson Masters, age 57 years 1 month 13 days, born 28 July 1877 in Carter Co., Ky, died 10 Sep 1934 in Pine Grove precinct, Rowan Co., Ky, marital status blank, father John W. Masters, born in Ohio, mother’s maiden name Marseleet Evans, born in Morgan Co., Ky, cause of death suicide, at home, shot in head with 16 gauge shotgun, informant Marion Masters, Triplett, Ky, burial in Masters Graveyard.

The first name on this death certificate is inconsistent with other records. Since he was known as Jack, the informant may have simply assumed his first name was Andrew.
Notes for Pearlie Conn
Her death certificate records Pearlie Masters, age 58 years 8 months 23 days, born 14 Oct 1887 in Ohio, died 8 Oct 1946 in Morehead, Rowan Co., Ky, widowed, father Lewis Conn, mother’s maiden name Emilie Marlow, both born in Ky, cause of death coronary occlusion, informant James Slone, Morehead, Ky, R.R. 2, burial in Cranston, Ky.

The birthdate may be wrong; in the 1900 census she was listed as age 16, born April 1884. The reported age of 17 at the time of her marriage would imply a birthdate between 4 April 1886 and 3 April 1887.

Since I also do not have a death date for Lewis’s first wife Mary Elam Reeves, it is possible that Perlie is really her daughter and that her mother was misreported as Lewis’s second wife Emily.
Notes for Alexander Jackson “Jack” & Pearlie (Family)
Rowan Co., Ky marriage book 5, p. 437, records the marriage on 3 Apr 1904 of Jack Masters, age 26, second marriage, farmer, residence Soldier, born in Carter Co., father born in Ohio, mother born in Morgan Co., to Perlie Conn, age 17, first marriage, residence Soldier, born in and both parents born in Rowan Co., at the house of B. Curtis by Ransom Burton, witnesses B... Curtis and Hattie Curtis. (Hattie Curtis is Pearlie’s sister. The name of the first witness looks like “Bluber”, but it is very probably Hattie’s husband Bruce Curtis.)
