His obituary reported:

“George Samual (Sam) Hinton, Sr., 79, of Davis Lane in Maysville, died Thursday, March 9, 2006 at Meadowview Regional Medical Center. He was the widower of Lena Rae Hinton.

Mr. Hinton was born July 29, 1926, in Tippecanoe, Ohio. He was the son of the late James Hinton and Ruby Thompson Hinton.

Mr. Hinton was employed as a mechanic at Standard Supply, a Navy veteran of World War ll and a member of Galliee Christian Church. Mr. Hinton was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Moose Lodge, honorary member of the Fraternal Order of Police, a past commander of VFW Post 1234, a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Kentucky Colonel.

He is survived by a daughter, Linda Hinton; and a son, Sam Hinton both of Maysville; two grandchildren, Randall Shawn Mason (Sherry) of Maysville and Darren Mason (Deanna) of Lexington; and a step-grandson, Tyler Harris; a brother, James Marshall Hinton of London; a sister, Velma Tootsie Burton of Fairview; and special sister-in-law, Alta Hinton of Tollesboro.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene, Leo and Charles Russell; and a sister, Aleatha Tumey.

Services will be 2 p.m.,Monday March 13, 2006, at Barbour and Son Funeral Home with Bro. Milt Stanfield officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Garden of Memories. Visitation 5-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Shawn Mason, Daren Mason, Rusty Hinton, Phillip Moran, Mike Hord, Steve Bickel. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Simpson, Dave Hughes, Randy Mason, Kenny Breeze and Larry Breeze.”
