The reported age and birthdate are inconsistent with each other by three years, with the age being wrong by one year and the birthdate off by four years; he was recorded as age 10 in the 1870 census, with three younger siblings, and as age 39 born March 1861 in the 1900 census.

Her obituary in the Owingsville Outlook reported “Mrs. Martha Carpenter Ginter, 77 years old, wife of W. P. Ginter, passed peacefully away at her home near the Kendall Springs churh Monday morning, December 9th, after a five weeks illness.

Mrs. Ginter had been in ill health for a number of years. Deceased was the daughter of Shelby and Judy Suttle Carpenter, born February 10, 1882. She was married to W. P. Ginter October 13, 1882. To this union were born nine children. She united with the Christian church early in life. She leaves to mourn her passing her aged husband and nine children - four daughters, Mrs. Thomas Stinson, New Castle, Ind.; Mrs. W. M. Carmichael, Lexington; Mrs. Ellis Carpenter and Mrs. Charles Webster, this county; five sons, John H. Ginter, Lexington; M. T. Ginter, Montgomery county; Taulbee Ginter, Howard’s Mill; Shelby and Ramsey Ginter of Bath; 31 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, December 11, at 2 o’clock at the Kendall Springs church by the Rev. H. S. Ficklin, followed by burial in the Kendall Springs Cemetery.”
