The U.S. Army Register of Enlistments records that he enlisted in the army at age 21 years 5 months on 15 June 1903 (which would imply a birthdate in 1882), discharged June 14, 1906 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, reenlisted on 19 April 1908 at age 25 years 2 months in Ohio (which would imply a birthdate in 1883), discharged 15 April 1911 at Fort McDowell, Calif, reenlisted on 21 Aug 1911 at age 28 years 7 months in Ohio (which would imply a birthdate in 1883), discharged 22 July 1914 at Fort McDowell, Calif.
