Robert should be listed as a stepson, with the surname Arnold.

I have not found this family in the 1900 census.

1910 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Farmers precinct, enumerated 26 April, lists on p. 8A as household #132/140:
Ramey, Abe, 54, third marriage, tenant farmer.

Although he is recorded as married, there is no wife in the household. The three preceding houses are headed by William, Andy and Sam Ramey, and following household is headed by Thomas Ramey. All four are sons of Jeremiah Ramey and Eunice Manley.

1920 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Pearcy precinct, enumerated 26 Jan, lists on p. 9B as family #171/190:
Ramey, Abel, 65, single, b. Ky Ky Ky, no occupation.

James is probably a brother of Charles Rose, the father of Samuel, Calvin, and Emily.
