The Kentucky birth index lists Oscar Wilson Cox, born 18 July 1927 in Elliott Co., mother’s maiden name Nancy Ellen Kegley. It is a delayed certificate, filed in 1988.

His obituary reported “Oscar Wilson "Fender Bender" Cox, 84, of State Highway 504, Elliott County, passed away Tuesday morning February 14, 2012 at Saint Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.  Mr. Cox was born July 18, 1927 in Carter County, a son of the late Colvin and Nancy Kegley Cox.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers; Noah Cox, Lowell Cox, Junior Cox and Lonnie Cox. Four sisters, Peachie Wagoner, Lillian Creech, Thurzie Creech and Naomi Cooper.

Oscar was a retired farmer/carpenter and merchant, he was the owner of Cox's Grocery on Rt. 504 for 18 years. He was a member of the Three Pine Freewill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years; Hazel Skaggs Cox; three sons and daughters in-law; Wendell Wilson and Kim Cox, David Ricky Cox and Jerry Dewayne and Rita Cox all of Olive Hill; one daughter, Linda Joyce Knott of Columbus, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Along with a host of extended family members and friends who will sadly mourn his passing.
Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m Friday, February 17, in the chapel of the Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home in Sandy Hook with Brother Gary Sparks officiating. Burial will followed in the Skaggs Cemetery on Skaggs Flat Rd in Elliott County.

Grandsons serving as pallbearers, Kenny Ray Cox, David Knott, Nathan Cox, Dakota Cox, Brock Cox and Kansas Cox.  Honorary Pallbearers were Billy Cox, Carson and Marsha Sparks, Danny Skaggs, Randy Lemaster, John Cox, Donald Cox, Daniel Monternaro and Harlan Skaggs.”
