His surname was spelled as Botkins in 1870 (in Nicholas Co.) and in 1920, Botkin in 1900, and Bodkins in 1910 and 1930 (all three in Lewis Co.) I cannot find him in 1880; his father’s name was spelled as Bodkin in 1850 (in Knox Co.) and 1860 (in Nicholasville, Jessamine Co.)

There were two death certificates filed for him.

The first, #4181, records William P. Botkin, age 70 years 6 months 11 days, born 11 Aug 1861 in Ky, died 22 Feb 1932 in Quincy, Lewis Co., Ky, length of residence 70 years 6 months 11 days, farmer, married, husband of Malinda Botkin, father John Botkin, mother’s maiden name Delila Jones, both born in Ky, cause of death cardio vascular renal changes, informant Emma Cooper, Vanceburg, Ky, burial in Quincy Cem.

The second one, #4185, is marked Duplicate, and has the same information except that his middle name is given as Preston, the cause of death is organic heart disease and hypertension, his wife’s name is not mentioned and his mother’s name is given only as Delilia, and the informant is W. P. Murphy, Quincy.

Lewis Co., Ky marriage records list the marriage on 28 Nov 1878 of William Bodtkin, age 17, born in Montgomery Co., residence Lewis Co., father born in Knox Co., mother born in Laurel Co., to Ellen Harry, age 25, born in Mason Co., residence Lewis Co., father born in Mason Co., mother born in Lewis Co.
