His obituary in the Morehead News reported:
“MOREHEAD - Joseph Wayne Sorrell, 79, of Sharkey, Kentucky, passed away Monday, August 21, 2006, at his residence. He was born November 5, 1926, in Fleming County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Joseph Bristow and Gertie Kissick Sorrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Eulene Ratliff, on March 26, 1986.
He is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Alvin and Jean Sorrell of Sharkey, Kentucky, and Eugene and Nola Faye Sorrell of Russellville, Ohio, and one sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Cecil Caudill of Marietta, Georgia; two nephews and four nieces.
Mr. Sorrell was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a longtime sawmill employee. He was a member of the Flemingsburg V.F.W.
Funeral services were conducted 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 24, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Brother Jim Porter officiating; burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with full military rites conducted at the graveside by Flemingsburg Franklin Sousley V.F.W. Post No. 1834 and the American Legion Post No. 5.”
