For most of his adult life, he reported his birthdate as March 1854. But the 1860 census listed him as age 7, and the 1870 census as age 17, suggesting a birthdate in 1853. His brother William, though, was recorded in Bath Co. birth records as born 8 June 1853, creating a conflict with March 1853, and also with March 1854, which would be only 9 months later. So he was apparently really born in 1852. (His younger brother John, born 18 Mar 1846 according to birth records, was reported as 3 in 1860 when he should have been 4, which would be consistent with Henry being reported as 7 whenn he should be 8.)

His death certificate records Henry Tincher, age 71, born 1852 in Bath Co., Ky, died 16 Aug 1923 at Eastern State Hospital, Lexington, Fayette Co., Ky, married, no occupation, parents not given, cause of death lobar pneumonia, contributory cause broken femur, informant records of E. S. Hospital, burial info blank.

In 1920 he was listed in Lexington, Ky as a patient at Eastern State Hospital, Henry Tincher, 68, married, b. Ky U.S. U.S.

Her death certificate records Emma Tinchnor, age 58 years 10 months 11 days, born 9 Mar 1877 in Bath Co., died 20 Jan 1936 in Frankfort, Franklin Co., Kentucky, widow, father Pres Sexton, mother’s maiden name Abbie Craig, both born in Bath Co., cause of death cardio renal dropsy and mitral regurgitation, informant Mrs. Nellie Sewart, Frankfort, Ky, burial in Sharpsburg, Ky.

The birthdate is off by three years; she was recorded as age 2 months in the 1880 census.

Tincher, Henry, 56, second marriage, farmer; Emma, wife, 28, first marriage, married 15 years, mother of 4 children, 4 living; Curdney, son, 13; Comer, son, 7; Johnnie, son, 3; Nellie, dau, 11/12; Sexton, Press, laborer, 18, laborer on home farm. All born Ky Ky Ky.

Press is Emma’s brother, so the relationship should have been given as brother-in-law.
