Census Notes for Samuel & Elva (Family)
1900 census of Bath Co., Ky, Owingsville precinct, enumerated 29 June, lists on p. 25B as family #487/489:
Clark, Sam---, 36, b. Apr 1864, farmer; Elva, wife, 28, b. May 1872, married 10 years, mother of 2 children, 2 living; Lillie, dau, 11, b. Feb 1889; Hoit, son, 5, b. May 1895. All born Ky Ky Ky.

The end of Sam’s name has one of those annoying family summary annotations on top (”4-1/of 4”), very dark making it impossible to tell what is underneath. Ancestry.com has indexed it as “Sanderson”, but the name is much too short for that. It could conceivably say “Sanders”, but I believe what looks at first glance to be the stem of a d is in fact the tilted cross-bar of the top 4 blending in with the left edge of an m.

1910 census of Bath Co., Ky, district 5, Preston precinct, enumerated 21 April, lists on p. 8A as family #81:
Clark, Samuel, 46, farmer; Elva, wife, 40, first marriage for both, married 23 years, mother of 6 children, 6 living; Lilly, dau, 19; Hoyt, son, 14; Mary, dau, 10; Nannie, dau, 7; Taylor, son, 6; Willie, son, 4/12. All born Ky Ky Ky.

The ages in this census appear to be a better fit with other records than those from the 1900 census.
