His WW II draft registration card, filed 27 April 1942, records Charles Fulton Brown, age 53, residence 338 N. Jackson St., Waukegan, Lake Co., Illinois, born 20 June 1888 in Lexington, Kentucky, nearest relative Susie Brown, same address, employer U. S. Post Office, Waukegan.

1920 census of Jefferson Co., Ky, Louisville ward 11, enumerated 9 Jan, lists on p. 11A as family #214/246, at 1013 S. 18th St:
Hall, Bettie, 55, married, janitress at church; Brown, Charles F., son, 31, machinist helper on railroad, single. Both born Ky Ky Ky.

This is the same address given by Charles on his WW I draft registration card in June 1917. Bettie’s marriage to a Hall was apparently brief and most likely ended in divorce, since by 1930 she had returned to her first married name.

There is a marginal note to see sheet 12A, line 23. That entire page is captioned “work sheet”, and consists of a bunch of “leftovers” which are cross referenced to other households via the numbering and street address columns. On line 23, numbered #607/1011 at 338 Jackson, is Brown, Betty, mother, 65, widowed, b. Ky Ky Ky.

Jesse is also recorded in Chicago with his wife Louise, so he must have just been visiting.
