Census Notes for Perry Odis & Mary Francis (Family)
1930 census of Highland Co., Ohio, Jackson township, enumerated 25 April, lists on p. 7A as family #158/163:
Varvel, Perry O., 38, age at first marriage 28; Mary F., wife, 32, age at first marriage 22; Dollie F., dau, 10; Donald P., son, 8; Dorothy J., dau, 6; Daisy L., dau, 5. All born Ohio Ohio Ohio.

I cannot find Perry in the 1940 census. Donald and Delmar are living with Dorothy and her husband:

1940 census of Adams Co., Ohio, village of Peebles, ED 1-11, lists on p. 10A as family #215, on Custer St:
Griffith, Donald, 22, laborer for W.P.A.; Dortha, wife, 16; Varvel, Donald, 18, brother-in-law, single; Eugene, son, 8/12; Varvel, brother-in-law, 4. All born in Ohio, all living in same place in 1935.

It is unclear from the formatting whether Eugene is a Griffith and the son of Donald and Dortha, or if he is a Varvel and the son of Donald Varvel.

There are also two Varvel girls living in an orphanage who are very likely to be Perry’s, considering the D naming pattern, and the fact that they fit into the birth order.

1940 census of Adams Co., Ohio, West Union, ED 1-19, lists on p. 63B as as inmates at Wilson Children’s Home:
Varvel, Delpha, 10; Darline, 6. Both born in Ohio, both living in Adams Co., Ohio in 1935.
