Her obituary reported “MT. STERLING- Mrs. Laura Chandler Highley, 80, Strauder Street, widow of Joe Highley Sr., died at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday at the White Nursing Home here after a month's illness. She was a native of Montgomery County.

Survivors include three sons, Dailey Cartmill, Orlando, Fla., and Joe and Paul Highley of Mt. Sterling; three brothers, Oscar Chandler, Clark County; Robert Chandler, Montgomery County, and Dawson Chandler, Mt. Sterling, and five grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Eastin-Richey Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Cannon. Burial will be in Machpelah Cemetery. Bearers will be Jack and John Chandler, Richard Cannon, Mort Wingate, Harold Staton and Dudley Wilson. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon today.”
