Her gravestone has her name as Betty Ann Cassity, and gives her birthdate as Sep 13, 1875. But she was recorded as age 2 in the 1880 census, as age 22 born Sep 1877 in the 1900 census, and as age 32 in the 1910 census.
Her obituary in the Lexington Herald Leader of 23 Nov 1964 reported:
“SALT LICK--Mrs. Betty Cassity, 89, of Salt Lick, died at 9:20 am Sunday in a Lexington hospital after a long illness. She was a member of the Church of God. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Martin Craig, Salt Lick, and Mrs. Orville Wills, Cropsey, Ill; a half-brother, Russell Downs of Middletown, Ohio; a half-sister, Mrs. Bertha McPerson, Crandon, Wis,; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Mudlick Church of God by the Rev. Virgil Lyons. Burial will be the Stull Cemetary at Olympia. The body was taken from the Powell and Son Funeral Home to the residence of daughter, Mrs. Martin Craig.”
