Her obituary reported:

“After a long illness due principally to the infirmity of old age, Mrs. Cynthia Shrout died at her borne at Moore's Ferry Friday and was buried at Hedrick's Saturday, Elder B. H. Ross conducting the funeral services.

Deceased was the sister of J. Albert Wright of Flat Creek and the late Ambrose L. Wright of Lower Slate Creek. She was aged 81 years, 6 months and two days. She came of a family noted for strong and sterling qualities of character and excellent citizenship. She was a member of the Christian Church for over 61 years. She leaves nine children, thirty-seven grandchildren, and thirty-eight great grandchildren. The oldest child is 61 and the youngest 42, Her surviving children are Albert W. Shrout, Mary J. (Mrs. Wm. Snedegar), Oliver P., John F., George W., Ambrose F, Cynthia Ann (Mrs. Jonathan Cassity), R Belle (Mrs John Atchison) and B.W. Shrout. Alvina, wife of Labe McGlothin, who was killed by a train at Midland City some years ago, is the only deceased child. All the children live in the Moore's Ferry neighborhood except George W. and Ambrose F., of the Jones' Branch neighborhood

Deceased's husband was David Shrout, a prominent citizen, who died about seven Years ago. The family have the sympathy of many friends in their loss.

Mrs. Alvina Hart, Mrs. Elizabeth Bristow and Mrs. Mary Jane Wells are sisters of the deceased.”

1860 census of Bath Co., Ky, Owingsville P.O., enumerated 14 July, lists on p. 118 as family #855:
John Sorrell, 53, farm hand; Matilda, 23; David Shrout, 32, carpenter; Ann, 41; Albert, 17; Mary, 14; Oliver (? looks like Iiver), 12; John, 10; George, 9; Ambrose, 7; Cynthia, 5; Catherine, 3. All listed as born in Kentucky, which conflicts with other records showing John Sorrell as born in Va and Matilda in Ohio.

1870 census of Bath Co., Ky, Sharpsburg precinct, enumerated 10 June, lists on pp. 15-16 as family #108:
Shrout, David, 47, farmer; Synthia A., 49; Jno, 21; George, 19; Ambrosia, 17 (f); Ann, 15; Alvira, 13; Arrabella, 9; Benjamin, 7. All born in Kentucky.

The daughter Ambrosia should be a son Ambrose. The next household is headed by their son Albert Shrout, age 27.

1880 census of Bath Co., Ky, Polksville precinct, enumerated 5 June, lists on p. 6 as family #57:
Shrout, David, 58, b. Ky Ky Ky, farmer; Sintha A., 60, wife, b. Ky Va Va; Alvira, 23, dau; Benjamin, 17, son; Shrout, Dudley, 50, laborer, works on farm. All except Sintha born Ky Ky Ky.
