His WW I draft registration card, filed 12 Sep 1918, records John Peter Gearheart, age 39, residence Morehead, Rowan Co., Ky, born 2 Aug 1879, farmer, self-employed, nearest relative Mrs. Nannie Gearheart, wife.

The SSDI lists John Gearheart, born 2 Aug 1880, died Apr 1972, last residence Morehead, Rowan Co., Ky.

The Kentucky death index lists John Gearheart, age 97, died 15 Apr 1972 in Rowan Co., residence same.

His gravestone also says John P. Gearheart, 1880 - 1972, but he was recorded as one year old in June 1880, so the 1879 date from the draft registration and the 1900 census must be correct.
