Notes for Charles Franklin “Frank” Darby
His WW I draft registration card, filed 12 Sep 1918, records Charles Franklin Darby, age 37, residence Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio, born 27 Mar 1881, occupation lineman, employer Cole Ry and Light Co., Columbus, nearest relative Jim Darby, Allensville, Vinton Co., Ohio.

His WW II draft registration card, filed 12 Apr 1942 in Elkhart Co., Indiana, records Charles Franklyn Darby, age 62, residence 348 St. Joseph St., Elkhart, Indiana, mailing address Akela via Deming, Luna Co., New Mexico, born 27 Mar 1880 in Allensville, Ohio, unemployed, contact Mrs. W. H. Darby, 216 Sproule Ave., Kissmee, Florida.

I’m curious as to why he gave his mailing address as Deming, New Mexico when his regular residence was Elkhart, Indiana. It cannot be because he was travelling on business, because he listed himself as unemployed. And Akela would be a very strange place to job hunt. (It is a stop on the highway, currently holding nothing but one of those rural souvenir strips called Akela Flats.) The contact Mrs. W. H. Darby may be the wife of his brother William Hiram Darby.
Notes for Flora Robbins
Morgan Co., Ky birth records list Flora Robins, born 11 April 1874, father John Robins, mother’s maiden name Mary H. Dyer.

Darby, Flora, 65, married (but no husband in the household); Pettit, John J., son, 34, single, cement worker on concrete sidewalks. Both born in Kentucky, both living in same house in 1935.
Census Notes for Charles Franklin “Frank” & Flora (Family)
1930 census of St. Joseph Co., Michigan, Sturgis ward 4, enumerated 5 April, lists on p. 5A as family #119/124, at 603 George St:
Darby, Frank, 50, age at first marriage 44, b. Ohio Ohio Ohio, lineman for city electric department; Flora, wife, 51, age at first marriage 45, b. Ky Ohio Ohio; Albert, brother, 39, single, b. Ohio Ohio Ohio, seaman on steamship.

It is really Flora’s second marriage, her first having been in 1891 when she was a week shy of 17. They apparently misinterpreted the question to be their ages at the start of the current marriage.
