He was recorded in the censuses as age 5 in 1850, age 12 in 1860, age 25 in 1870, age 36 in 1880, and age 56 born Feb 1844 in 1900. So evidence is inclusive as to whether he was born in 1844 or 1845, but it definitely was not 1834.
