Census Notes for David Davis
In 1900 he was recorded with his son Milton as David Davis, age blotted out, b. May 1828, Ky Ky Ky, widowed.
Notes for Mary Ann Teal
Nearly all the death certificates of her children record her maiden name as Teal, and the 1850 and 1860 censuses for their family include a Mary Elizabeth Teal born about 1800, presumably her mother. But the only birth record for any of their children (John’s, in 1858) gives the mother’s maiden name as Miryam Sorrell. So it is possible that she was born a Sorrell, and her mother remarried to a Teal while she was young. More likely, though, that birth record is just in error.
Census Notes for David & Mary Ann (Family)
1850 census of Bath Co., Ky, enumerated 9 Aug, lists onp. 56 as family #379:
David Davis, 21, farmer; Mary Davis, 21; Mary Teal, 50. All born in Kentucky.

The next household is Joseph Davis, age 28, with wife Clarissa age 26.

1860 census of Fleming Co., Ky, district 2, Flemingsburg P.O., enumerated 2 Aug, lists on p. 66 as family #457/523:
David Davis, 27, farm laborer; Mary A., 32; Sarah E., 10; Samuel G., 3; John W., 2; Adela, 2/12. Elizabeth Teal, 60. All born in Kentucky.

1870 census of Bath Co., Ky, Wyoming precinct, enumerated 13 Aug, lists on p. 30 as family #48:
Davis, David, 48, farm laborer; Mary A., 45; Sarah, 16; Ann, 13; John, 11; Delia, 9; Jefferson, 8; Milton, 6. All born in Kentucky.

The conversion of a son Samuel G. to a daughter Ann seems odd. The 1880 census also has a son Samuel. Perhaps Sam was misheard as Ann?

1880 census of Bath Co., Ky, Owingsville precinct, enumerated 23 June, lists on p. 37 as family #344/353:
Davis, David, 56, farmer; Samuel, 24, son; John, 22, son; Delia, 19, dau; Jefferson, 18, son; Milton, 16, son. All born Ky Ky Ky.
