His death certificate records Luther Fookes, age 54 years 5 months 15 days, born 27 Sep 1880 in Kentucky, died 14 Mar 1935 in Engine House precinct, Harrison Co., Ky, married, husband of Maud Fookes, father Geo Fookes, mother’s maiden name Sarah Ann Kearns, both born in Ky, cause of death cerebral hemorrhage due to arteriosclerosis & hypertension, informant Roy Fookes, Berry, Ky, #1, burial in Battle Grove.
He was recorded in the 1880 census as Lucien age 3 with a twin sister Lucy, and in the 1900 census as Luther age 21, born Sep 1878 with a twin sister Lucinda. The 1880 census would be consistent with the Sep 1876 date from his draft card, and Lucy’s death certificate gave her birth date as 27 Sep 1876. So that is most likely the correct date. But he had an older brother David who was recorded as age 4 in the 1880 census, and as born 10 March 1876 on his death certificate. David and the twins cannot all have been born in 1876, at least not to the same mother. So either David was born in Mar 1875 and should have been recorded as 5 in the 1880 census, or the Lu- twins were born in Sep 1877 and should have been reported as 2 in 1880.
