Census Notes for J. Alvin & Sarah Alice (Family)
1900 census of Bourbon Co., Ky, Ruddles Mills precinct, enumerated 5 June, lists on p. 7B as family #140/144:
Wagoner, Alvin, 33, b. Jan 1867, Ky Ohio Va, farmer; Alice, wife, 26, b. June 1873, Ky Ky Ky, married 1 year, mother of 9 children, 9 living; Edward, son, 5/12, b. Dec 1900, Ky Ky Ky; Sarah, mother, 69, widowed, b. June 1830, Va Va Va, mother of 5 children, 4 living. Clump, John, grandson, 12, b. Oct 1897, Ky Ky Ky. Fookes, Edward, servant, 29, b. Dec 1870, Ky Ky Ky, widowed.

There are several flaky things about this listing. If Alvin is really 33, he can’t have a 12 year old grandson; the grandson relationship may be to Sarah Wagoner, making John be Alvin’s nephew. It is also highly unlikely that Alice is the mother of 9 living children at age 26, of whom only one is living with her. She is one of a family of 9 siblings who were all living in 1900, though; apparently she misinterpreted the question. Finally, the relationship of Edward Fookes should be given as brother-in-law.
