Her obituary in the Ashland Daily Independent reported:

“Jeanette Meeks Zornes Bentley, 87, of Catlettsburg, passed away Tuesday morning, Aug. 23, 2011, in Louisa.

Mrs. Bentley was born Aug. 19, 1924, in Boyd County, a daughter of the late Earl and Oakie Rose Meeks. Jeanette served her country during World War II in the U.S. Army. She was a graduate of Thomas R. Brown High School and was employed by the Catlettsburg Antique Mall. She was member of Burnaugh Baptist Church where she was a faithful member for 30 years and a choir member. She loved antiques and reading.

Surviving are her children, Janet Barker and her husband, Jack, of Catlettsburg, Leo Zornes and his wife, Linda, of Catlettsburg, Roger Zornes of Ashland and Donald Zornes and his wife, Jenny, of Louisa; and daughter-in-law, Gloria Martin of Ashland; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and sisters Ruth Gillum of Huntington, W.Va., and Helen (Erwin) Wetsel of Florida.

She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Clyde Leo Zornes Sr. and William “Bill” Bentley; a son, William Earl Martin; a brother, Don Meeks; and a sister, Dorothy Meeks.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bentley will be at 1 p.m. Thursday Aug. 25, 2011, at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. Pastor Pete Miller will bring a message of inspiration. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens, with military rites by American Legion Post 93 of Kenova, W.Va.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Casket bearers will be deacons of Buraugh Baptist Church: George Perry, Charles Butcher, Ron Nolte, Jerry Clark, Gary Crawford and Don Yates.”
