His obituary in the Modesto Bee of Wed, Oct. 9, 1996 reported:

“Feb. 26, 1911 -- Oct. 7, 1996 Frank Elwood Quesenberry, 85, of Modesto died Monday at Casa de Modesto. Mr. Quesenberry was a native of Lodi. He had lived in Modesto since 1923. He was the owner of Gene's Cafe on 10th Street. He was a chef for many years at the Old Fishermen's Club. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. He was active in the old Lincoln School PTA and many organizations in Modesto.

He is survived by his wife, Jessie M. Quesenberry of Modesto; children, Noel Quesenberry and David Quesenberry, both of Modesto, Linda Hackney of Ridgecrest, Norma Foster Maddy of Indian Wells and Don Quesenberry of Courtland; a brother, Marion Quesenberry of Waterford; a sister, Eva Futch of Oakdale, and 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the chapel. Remembrances may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 1911 Toyon Ave., Modesto 95350.
