Notes for Gladys Melvina “Malley” Quesenberry
A delayed birth certificate, filed for on 1 Oct 1948 and granted on 15 Apr 1952, records Gladys Malley Quesenberry, born 19 March 1893 in Cliff Top, Fayette Co., West Virginia, father George Oscar Quesenberry, mother’s maiden name Sally Mobley Quesenberry, supporting evidence affidavit of mother, Mrs. Sallie M. Quesenberry, age 78 years, dated 1 Oct 1948, marriage record in Book 3, page 82, license #67, Summers Co., WV, and family bible record examined by County Health Officer.

The 1900 census gave Glady’s birth date as Aug 1895, and her older sister Lois’s as Mar 1893. Their sister Faye was entirely missing from that census, though, and her delayed birth certificate says she was born 11 Aug 1895. Apparently the birthdates were shifted upwards to the previous child.
