Randy Skaggs Jr., grandson of Rufus Skaggs, said that his father mentioned Charles as the name of a possible son of Fleming and Nancy. The 1910 census recorded Nancy as the mother of 4 children, 3 living, which suggests that Charles may have been the name of the child who died before 1910. Since I have not been able to find a 1900 census record for the family, it is not known whether Charles was born before 1900, or after. (There is no burial record for that name in the Rowan County cemetery survey.)
