Her death certificate records Sarah Jane Switzer, age “72 ? years 8 ? months ? days”, born “May ? ? 1843 ?” (the question marks are on the certificate) in Gallatin Co., Ky, widow, father’s surname Jones, mother’s maiden name “Cannot Learn”, both parent birthplaces also Cannot Learn, cause of death pneumonia or lagrippe, informant Louis Switzer, Farmers, burial in Slaty Point.

1870 census of Owen Co., Ky, New Columbus precinct, enumerated 2 Sep, lists on p. 20 as family #132:
Sweitzer, Richard, 25, farmer; Sarah J., 24; Isaac R., 4; Wm T., 6/12. All born in Kentucky.

For some odd reason, this family is recorded in the 1880 census under the surname Kemper:

(The next household is headed by a Jeremiah Kemper; perhaps the census taker when copying from his visit notes into the official ledger copied over the surname from the wrong family.)
