Notes for John Monroe & Mahulda S. (Family)
His name is from Robert Ann’s death certifcate. It may be that he and Mahulda never married, and Mahulda just claimed to be widowed for appearance sake. If they ever married, they divorced, because John M. Pierce/Pearce married Mary Ann Reeves about 1856 and lived until 1902. On Mahulda’s marriage record to John Plummer, she claims to be widowed, but she gives her name as Mahulda Gregory, not Pearce (or Pierce).
