Census Notes for Crockett W. Duncan
In 1860 he was recorded with his parents, as Crockett W. Duncan age 6.

In 1870 he was recorded with his paternal uncle Benjamin Duncan, as age 16. His grandparents are also in the household:

1870 census of Floyd Co., Virginia, Indian Valley township, enumerated 19 Aug, lists on pp. 14-15 as family #92/86:
Duncan, Benjamin, 52, farmer; Nancy, 45; Julia Ann, 26; Minerva, 23; Asa, 21; Deliliah, 20; Sarah, 18; Fransina, 16; Melina, 14; Rebecca, 12; Nanzilla, 9; Emmazetta, 7; Noah J., 4; John B., 1; John S., 82, invalid; Rhoda, 82; Crockett, 16. All born in Virginia.

In 1880 he was still living with Benjamin, but he reported his age as 20. From then on, he appears to have reported his age as if he were born between 1857 to 1860, which potentially causes confusion with Crockett L. Duncan, son of Humphrey Duncan and Lucy Booth, who actually was born in 1858 or 1859.
Notes for Crockett W. & Mary Ellen (Family)
Floyd Co., Virginia marriage book 3, p. 69, records the marriage on 6 Mar 1881 of Crokett Duncan and Mary E. Duncan.
