His obituary reported:

“MUNCIE - Robert Sloan, 82, of Muncie, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at his residence. He was born June 3, 1925 in Paintsville, Kentucky to William Baldwin and Rosa (Coldiron) Sloan. Mr. Sloan worked as a audio-visual tech. for Muncie Community schools and Morehead State University for 30 years. Robert was a member of Christ Chapel Church of Muncie and he was a bonafide Kentucky Colonel. He loved gardening, hunting and fishing. Mr. Sloan was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in WWII from 1943 to 1946.

Survivors include two sons Robert Sloan, (wife-Julie), of Morehead, Ky., Tom Sloan of Muncie; daughter, Joy Campbell (husband-David) of Daleville; two brothers, Charlie Sloan (wife-Louise) of Muncie, Bill Sloan (wife-Judy) of Morehead, Ky.; sister, Ethel Thomas of Muncie; cousin, Carl Clark of Muncie; grandchildren, Rob Sloan of Indianapolis, Brent Sloan (wife-Karla) of Muncie, Darbi Stephens (husband-Scott) of Muncie, Gabe Campbell of Muncie, Travis Campbell (wife-Amanda) of Muncie, Kylie DeVault (husband-Kyle) of Anderson and Cody Sloan of Muncie; and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years Marjorie (Martt) Sloan, and now they are together forever. Also preceding him in death are his parents; one brother, Tom; and two sisters, Pearl and Georgiann.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals in Morehead, Kentucky. Burial will follow at Stewart Cemetery in Clearfield, Kentucky.

Friends may call from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Parson Mortuary in Muncie and from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, Tuesday May 27, 2008 at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals in Morehead, KY.

Military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Navy at the graveside.”
