Her obituary in the Martinsville Bulletin of July 13, 2003 reported:

“Sylvia Quesenberry Vaughn, 72, of 703 Carter St., Martinsville, on July 11, 2003, at Blue Ridge Rehab Center of Martinsville and Henry County. She was born on Oct. 8, 1930, in Carroll County, a daughter of the late Dewey S. Quesenberry and the late Ollie Worrell Quesenberry. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Connie Quesenberry. She was a retired employee of American Furniture Co.

Survivors include her husband, Buren Vaughn, of the home, two sons, David "Soupy" Lawson of Martinsville, and James Lawson of Collinsville; a sister, Glenna Ayers of Pulaski; four brothers, Roy Quesenberry of Collinsville, Avis Quesenberry and Ravis Quesenberry, both of Bassett; Paul D. Quesenberry of Hillsville; six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Norris Funeral Services Chapel with Pastor Tom Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and other times at the home of the son, James and Ann Lawson, 37 Meadowlark Lane, in Collinsville.”
