Notes for Olive Bell Gibbs
Her death certificate records Olive (?) Bell Gibb, age 10 months born 15 July 1923 in Menefee Co., Ky, died 17 May 1924 in precinct 7, Menifee Co., Kentucky, father Alfred Gibb, mother’s maiden name Annie Slusher, cause of death cerebral meningitis probably tubercular, informant and burial info blank.

The question mark on her name is mine; the handwriting is hard to read. Her first name is indexed by Ancestry as Cline. Taken alone, it looks to me most like Bline, with a B that has a large upper loop and a very small lower one, sort of like one made a cursive D and then flourished it with a loop at the bottom. But the B in Bell has a lower loop that is larger than the upper one, and the zero digit in the “10 months” age field looks like a D, indicating that the person who filled out the form puts a left vertical stroke on round characters that most people wouldn’t. So Olive seems like the most likely transcription. Another possibility is Aline, but that would be more likely to have a vertical at the right rather than the left.

There is no matching birth record, but since three of her siblings filed delayed birth certificates in the 1940’s, it is likely that her birth was just not recorded.
