Notes for Hulda Click
These children do not all necessarily have the same father, but since I do not know for certain who their fathers were, and they were raised together by Hulda, I have grouped them all into the same family.
Census
I have not been able to find Hulda in the 1860 census, nor to identify her parents. (There is a Hurdy Click, age 12, in Bath Co., daughter of John R. Click and his wife Margaret, but she seems too old to be this Hulda.) Based on the 1880 census and the death certificates of her children William, John, and Lucy, Click is her maiden name, not a married name.

1870 census of Elliott Co., Ky, precinct 2, Sandy Hook P.O., lists on p. 8 as family #61:
Click, John, 28, farmer, b. Ky; Sarah, 35, b. Va; William, 6; Henry H., 5; John W., 2; Samuel, 4/12; Click, Huldah, 16, domestic servant.

This is the family of John Click (25 Feb 1842 - 28 Oct 1901) and Sarah Carter (1844-1920). John was the son of William Harmon Click (1815-1883) and Sarah Whitt (1825-1901). Hulda is not his sister. (Not only does she not appear with the William Click family in the 1860 census, there is a full roster of four sons born durng the 1850’s, leaving no room for a name-changing daughter.) It is also unlikely that she was his niece. John had only one older sister, Susan, who married Joel Crisp in 1856, and their household in 1860 contains no child who could be Hulda. (There are three children of Joel and Susan, and one child of Joel and his first wife Clary Whitt.)

1880 census of Elliott Co., Ky, Martinsburg precinct, enumerated 22 June, lists on p. 36 as family #265:
Click, Hulda, 27, single, housework; Anna L., 5/12, b. Dec, dau. Both born Ky Ky Ky.

(There are no other Click households on this or the preceding page.)

1900 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Morehead precinct 1, enumerated 27 June, lists on p. 21B as family #401:
Click, Hulda, 43, b. May 1857, widowed, mother of 8 children, 6 living, farmer; Willie, son, 18, b. Jan 1882; Charlie, son, 14, b. March 1886; John, son, 12, b. Jan 1888; Lizzie, dau, 7, b. May 1893; Lucy, dau, 7, b. May 1893; Absalom, son, 5, b. June 1895. All born Ky Ky Ky.

1910 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Farmers precinct, enumerated 25 April, lists on p. 7A as family #106/113:
Ellis, John, 30, b. WVa WVa WVa, farmer; Mary, wife, 25, b. Ky Ky Ky, first marriage for both, married 10 years, mother of 6 children, 4 living; George G., son, 9; Lonnie B., son, 6; Thelma, dau, 2; Peachy, dau, 4; Ballard, father, 67, b. WVa WVa WVa; Click, William M., hired hand, 35, farm laborer, b. Ky Ky Ky; Huldy, 60, dishwasher, b. Ky Ky Ky. All Ellis children born Ky WVa Ky. The marital status column for Ballard, William and Huldy is blank.

The William M. Click age 35 in this census is unlikely to be Hulda’s son Willie, who would have been only 28 in 1910. It may be the William Click born 9 May 1873 in Carter Co. (from a draft card.)

I cannot find Hulda in the Kentucky death records nor in Rowan Co. cemetery records, even searching for all Huld* deaths disregarding surname (under the theory that she might have married.) Most likely she moved out of state to live with one of her children.
