Isaac Ferguson Coffee and his families are in my database mainly because his second wife Nancy Kennard was the widow of a Sexton. Whenever I include one of someone’s marriages, I like to document them all, especially if there are children from multiple marriages, because otherwise visitors to my website may either be misled into thinking that the spouse listed is the parent of all their children, or else, if they already know of the other marriage(s), they often send me messages telling me that my data is incomplete.

His death certificate (Vol. 5, #02430) records Isaac Ferguson Coffee, age 88 years 2 months 18 days, born 16 Oct 1842 in Ky, died 3 Jan 1931 in Lacy Creek, Morgan Co., Kentucky, married, farmer, father Maison Coffee, mother’s maiden name Martha Ferguson, both born in Ky, cause of death senile pneumonia, informant O. B. Coffee, West Liberty, Ky, burial in Kennard Graveyard.

Either the marital status is incorrect, or Isaac married and outlived a fifth wife very late, because he was recorded as widowed in the 1930 census.

Coffee, Isaac F., 27, farmer; Elizabeth, 30. Both born in Kentucky.

1880 census of Morgan Co., Ky, Elk Fork precinct, enumerated 17 June, lists on p. 20 as family #149/151:
Coffee, Isaac F., 36, farmer; Nancy C., 22, wife; Orlando, 9, son; Celia F., 7, dau; Alwilda, 6, dau. Sexton, Louisa F., 3, stepdau. All born Ky Ky Ky.

The Coffee children are all from Isaac’s first marriage, to Elizabeth Trimble.

The next household is headed by James H. Coffee, age 53, with wife Nancie age 46. The preceding two househlds are headed by Harbin Coffee age 43 with wife Elizabeth age 40, and Noah Coffee age 37 with wife Pearl age 23.
