Notes for Harmon Hoffman
Ken Fawley's family group chart for Philip Huffman & Mary Philhower shows Harmon Huffman & Anna Schuyler, with a question mark, as parents of that Philip Huffman. But Early Germans of New Jersey does not include him on the list of Harmon & Anna's children; instead, it lists a son Philip M. Hoffman b. 15 Feb 1774, as well as the other children entered here before my Philip (1793-1855). Of course, German families often had several children with the same first name, which was used as a baptismal name only, the children going by their second name instead, so it is still possible that my Philip is also a son of Harmon & Anna. But I would like to know what Ken’s evidence was for the attribution. The dates fit much better with him being a son of Peter M. Hoffman and Charity Ann Philhower.
