It is not certain when Elizabeth died. Her tombstone says she died 5 Nov 1879 age 61. The chart in Binnie's Heeter Family Letters uses that death date. But it is probably wrong, for several reasons. First, it would imply a birthdate in 1818, and it is definite from her father's Bible and notebook that she was born in 1814. Second, Charles Heeter (1851-1940), a grandson of John Heeter, wrote in his genealogical record that Elizabeth died in Feb 1872. Thirdly, and most significantly, William Pence married as his third wife Caroline Harwood, on 15 Apr 1875 (Decatur Co., IN marriage book K, p. 296). Since Elizabeth is buried with her husband, it is assumed she died while still his wife, and thus before 1875.
