Miami Valley Genealogies, Vol. 2, p. 25, by Lindsay Brien, lists as a son of John Bowman Sr.: "David Bowman, an Elder in the Brethren Church, was born in Maryland, Mar. 30, 1775. He was living in Warren County in 1795, where he was a member of Stonelick Church. He came to Montgomery Co. in 1802, where he died Apr. 20, 1860; his wife Barbara Bowser, died Feb. 8, 1865, age 90 years; both in Trissell Cemetery, Jackson Township. His will, dated May 8, 1830 and recorded May 7, 1860, names wife Barbara; sons David and John; children of Esther Moyer, late the wife of Jacob Moyer; Catharine Shively, wife of Daniel Shively; Polly Vaniman, wife of Jacob Vaniman; Elizabeth Brombaugh, wife of David Brombaugh."
