Notes for Johann Görg & Anna Maria (Family)
This family is profiled on pages 1- 8 of Lester Binnie's "The German Baptist Arnolds". The source for most early data is German records on LDS microfilms; most later data is from Maryland and Pennsylvania land records. No will has been found, and the list of children is probably not complete.
Records of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick Co., MD, list George Arnold and wife Anna Maria as godparents at the baptism of Johannes, son of Ludwig Kreamer, 17 Oct 1743. On this basis, Lester Binnie speculates that a daughter of Johann George "appears to have married Ludwig Kreamer." I do not, however, think it likely that Johann & Maria had a daughter old enough to be having a baby in 1743, as the early years of their marriage are pretty filled up with known sons, 1730 being the earliest year that another child could squeeze in. I suppose the hypothetical daughter could be a twin of one of the boys, but it seems more likely that the Arnolds were just standing as godparents to a baby who wasn't their grandchild. Godparents were more often an uncle and aunt to the baby than they were grandparents, and were frequently not even blood relatives.
