On their marriage license application (Bk 7, p. 161), Melvin lists his parents as John A. Heeter & Mattie Tuckey, and his birthdate as 10-31-1895. (This agrees with his death record, but disagrees with the 1900 census, which lists him as age 3, born Oct 1896. I am entering the 1895 date because it is apparently what he used as his birthdate, but the 1896 date is probably more accurate, both because there was less time for errors of memory to creep in, and because it fits in better with the birthdates of his siblings.) Blanche Ethel Grossnickle lists her parents as William and Elizabeth Grossnickle, and her birthdate as 3-8-1893. The application states that the marriage will be on 27 Dec 1913. The returned license is filed separately, in Bk 17, p. 222. I did not consult it, so it is possible that the actual marriage date was later.

Wabash Co. death records, bk 1986, p. 2, line 817, lists Melvin L. Heeter, d. 1-24-86, age 90, in Peabody Home, burial in Pleasant Hill.

Binnie's "Cemetery Records of Chester twp", p. 72, lists in Pleasant Hill Cem. a joint stone inscribed: "Melvin L. Heeter 1895-19__ Blanche E. 1893-19__" (He took his notes in 1970, at which time Melvin & Blanche were alive.)
